it anit that bad we did it on my budies 95 last year its a cake walk, didnt get pics though to much alcohol involved anyway, we just grindid a bunch of the case away on the top infront of the injector pump that with the little grinding stones( look like a bullet) we make the grind deeper, just enough to get the plug in then sloped the silicone on it

oglejust,

Have a look here - if you scroll down you will see a procedure to take the timing case cover off (unfortunately, there isnt any pics):

Ram Diesel KDP retainer

Theres a few different ways to bump the timing - have a look at this for starters:

TSB 18-10-94 Rev. A

You will need some special tools for the timing adjustment. And you wont need a grinder for this job.

i saw a thread on timing by pulling the gear off and moving it counter clockwise.... like 1/8in = 1 degree or something. also, if i turn the engine untill the timing pin goes in thats tdc right?

pulling timing cover what all should i do?-12ve_timing-locations-l.jpg

Left red circle is engine timing pin (tdc)

Right red circle is pump timing pin

EDIT: Also I would reccomend either getting a gauge or having some with a gauge time it. You're risking blowin a head gasket if you don't. Don't ask how I know this
