Default Plate profiles....

Got a question. By now we have all seen the picture floatin around with the plate profiles and the stock plate profile. And up untill recent have I ever needed to know anything about em. Well now im askin, my bud picked up a '96 2500 4x4 5-speed x cab. The guy before him owned it sence 97, and the folks up in Mass did some work to it (sorry forgot their name) 4"turbo back with a Cat! pyro and boost on the pillar. The truck drove VERY "sporty" so we thought it had a plate of some kind. Virtually NO smoke. But we attempted to pull the plate to check it n do some grinding, and found ALL the anti-tamper stuff. OK, no biggie, but the plate that was in it, was almost a VERY mild 100. like the slope beggining at around 1/3 down the plate.

SO, my question is this, how do they tighten them anti tamper screws at the factory? and EVERY SINGLE 94-98 p-pump 12er no matter what dodge no matter what tranny and pump had the EXACT same plate profile? Just trying to solve the mysteries of this thing, still have a boost elbow comming of the head that we thought went to the wastegate that does nothing no matter where the allen head is. Completely closed and still able to adjust the wasetgate to regulate boost.

Speeking of boost, I am assuming no more then 35-40 PSI on a stock 2nd gen headgasket setup just like the 1st gens?

Boost - No more than 50 on a stock head gasket and no more than 40ish with a stock hx35 honestly past 35 all you make is heat with a stock turbo. As for stock break off screws. I have heard the coming in some kits. Remember back in the day these trucks still had warranty’s They were probably put back on to make it appear stock.

Im guessing ur trying to say the boost elbow isnt working? Do you know where the wastegate line goes? Theres at least 2 different places it goes that i know of. One goes from the wastegate to the injection pump. One goes from the wast gate to the front of the turbo

Thanks for the replies. The boost elbow deal does go to the wasetgate, still confused on that one, with the allen head at full closed ( flush with the elbow) still adjusting the wastegate itself to achieve 32PSI on the gauge plumbed at the manifold on the head. thought about pulling the elbow to see what kinda gack was in it n why were still getting boost to the wastegate but figured we'd better leave it alone.

i dont think boost elbows close the wastegate off entirely but i know w/o even having the allen head on my boost elbow anywhere near tight i could hit over 40 psi on my stock turbo so i think its time for you to check for some leaks and back the allen heaf off as soon as you find one.
