Default changing the plate or plate number from a #6

I was searching this for awhile now and I think I can gain going to a 0 or a 100 plate. I did see if I go with a 0 it will give me the most fuel. If I go with a 100 it will only give me fuel from 1/4 to wot. I think I got it right. Anyhow I want more hp and I am going to grind my stock plate. I just want to make sure I am going to gain going to a 0 or 100 over my 6. If I am going to gain how much power am I going to get? I did nor find what hp/tq for a 0 or 100 plate. I do know the stock is 180.
I am just trying to get as much as I can without spending more money at this time.

I also read about the star wheel, afc mod, and the adjustments that can be done.

Also why would you go with a 100 over a 0 if you can just pull the plate plate to lower the fuel?

Maybe I missed something? Any help would be great.

thanks

The higher the plate numer, numerically, the less fuel it will give you. Any of them are an increase over a stock plate, but a #11 will provide less fuel in the stock position vs., say, a #6. There really is no set HP figures for a 0 plate because, to my knowledge, no one has ever offered it in a kit. All the ones I've seen have been home-ground. But to answer one of your questions, going from a #6 to a #10 will lower your hp. In my opinion, grind the plate to a 0 "profile", and tune your afc accordingly. TST has their #10 power kit rated at 230hp and 6-something for torque on a 180 motor. I had that setup in my 215 pumped truck and liked it, since it was the only mod done. Just make sure if you do grind a 0 plate, to adjust your governor arm to contact the plate. I know mine would slide under in the full forward or stock position.

Thanks for the info. Anyone else?

Yes I will be adjusting the afc if I do the grind.

I took the fuel plate out. I have the afc full foward front. Star wheel is to the front of the engine ( loose as possible) I am wondering can I get more hp or more fuel NEED MORE OUT OF THIS. I though by removing this plate I would notice a lot more than it gave me. I would say it gave me only about 10% over my #6 . Is there ANYMORE I can get out of this pump tonight to get more.

I did get my egt to go to 1400 before it was 1300 also I got alittle more on the bottom end. I think there is a tad more black smoke also so I do know I am getting more fuel.

Anyone know?

thanks

Why go with a #100??? Less smoke can save tires and a trans. Dont have to adjust the gov arm and you can run it full forward without any worry.

Im with 97 d tec on this get some more air to it first.

As for the lower the number the more fuel you will put to it thats not quite true. A #100 will out fuel everything except a #0 and i know some people that made more power with the #100... The lower # thing works if you keep in mind a certin # is made for a spacific pump and dont take into acount any custom plates (#100 #0 etc). A #10 Will pour the fuel in a 215 pump but may not be best for a 160.

Starwheel adjusts low boost fueling. Its in the AFC witch is the houseing that covers the plate. The looser the spring the more off idel fuel you will have the tighter the less fuel you will have till boost comes up.

My advice make a 100 put it in stock position or towards the back for some egt controle and get more air. Then start playing and tuneing it.
