There's plenty of other things to do inside the pump besides turning the starwheel up for more "smoke", as well as power. Grind/slide the plate (which it looks like you've done), adjust the AFC lever for proper travel, grind the AFC foot/barrel, depending on what pump you have (160?), the 2095 mack plug.

If all you're looking for is smoke, plastic sacks over air filters work wonders.

i have the 180 but im not sure what you mean by grinding the foot? is there a certain profile or do you make it flat?

It's just taking the taper off the foot itself. You can do that or grind the barrel of the AFC itself. Either one should net you a small gain in rack travel. This was one someone else did.

I studied the cutout of the afc but I can't remember that barrel or whatever its called

In my opinion, don't gut the AFC. Use it for a tuning tool and you will be a lot happier with your truck. Spend a day and take it apart study the thing, read about it, and just try different combos. Slide the plate back, adjust starwheel, fuel screw..etc etc.

what does a star wheel actually do?? And how does blocking the waste gate help?

so to get to the starwheel just take out the allen head plug and then rotate the wheel toward the motor how much should i move it

Im new here to the forums and have been reading up and researching quite a bit and now firmly believe a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. From what ive learned from yall off here i adjusted my fuel plate forward turned starwheel towards engine 25 clicks and ran it a week or so before returning to stock positions best i could now im left with what seems to be a common problem with newbies my truck lugs down preboost then takes off once boost kicks in any suggestions? And thanks in advance also any advice on timing advancement pros cons?

25 clicks??? I ran mine up two clicks.
