sp i've got a friend with an 07 dually, six speed and exhaust brake the truck is pretty sweet. anyhow he complained of too much black smoke and i wasn't sure what advice to give him. he's got smoke stacked exhaust, i think like four inch exhaust, and a cold-air intake, he also said he removed the dampener from the turbo. So with those kind of exhaust mods would he expect a little bit more smoke? He took me for a test drive but it wasn't smoking too bad at the time. i mentioned oil loss to him and he did say he lost a little, he said he added the marvel mystery oil and he quit burnin oil. so he says he still got smoke, what should he keep an eye out for, or is it normal to see some smoke.

 

What color of smoke we talking about?
If black, even in a stock truck at wot your going to have a light haze till the turbo kicks in.
And I mean stock as far as tuner and injectors what not exhaust and cai will reduce smoke on stock tune

Boost leak, Clogged air filter! What programmer is he running?

 

I don't think he's got a programmer in it yet. it was def Black smoke but again i've seen black smoke when turbos seize, and this was nothing like that, but we didn't want to just ignore it, he's running a K&N on the air plus i'm not even sure if he oils it, what program do you reccommend?

 

Smarty for sure actually have one for his truck for sale! Smarty S06 pod for 600. shipped! Has the TNT program on it! Have him try running it without that air filter and see if that makes a difference! He needs an intake also!

 

without the air filter, are you suggesting he change brand of air filters or just try it once without to see if smoke clears up.
