Whats your best MPG?
#71
For some reason my truck is getting great mileage generally im pretty light on the foot in the city but i get between 18 and 16 in the city average (without a heavy foot). On the highway on the other hand ive already seen it at 26 at one point 28 not for long of course but especially after I installed a new air filter this is bone stock mind you.

Hell I cant wait to see what she's pushing after I get the cold air intake, 4" straight pipe, and smarty have to say im pleased with the efficiency.

If you are looking at the overhead readout, its only there to make you feel good...its less than accurate and is only eye candy. I know of one programmer that made that readout appear that you were getting 30mpg or better, but hand calculated it was about half that. Dodge could have better spent the $$ they put into the overhead into something that really mattered...
As far as mileage, hand calculated; I averaged about 18mpg, highway was 21mpg, city was about 16mpg, and towing depended on weight. I kept mileage records for every tank of fuel and sold the first truck with 200k, and the last truck (the one in my signature) with 270k...so I had a good trend going. The 99 auto 3.55s definitely was better on fuel, but it definitely wasn't as fun as the 04.5.
The absolute best mileage I ever got (hand calc'd) with the 2004.5 was two back to back tanks at 26mpg, but that was driving across North Dakota with about a 50mph tail wind.

heading to california with a campershell, tool box full, camping supplies, and lots of beer. I got 19mpg hand calculated between el paso and phoenix. I was going between 70-85mph the whole way. My truck is just under 8,000lbs on the scales.
This was with my smarty on level 9 and my banks bullet turned off.
