Default Laramie steering wheel swap

Hey guys, recently got an '06 qc. Its just an SLT, and the one thing driving me crazy is it doesnt have the steering wheel radio controls like my old Laramie. Can i just put on a Laramie steering wheel and hook up the wiring or does it have a completely different wiring harness?

Aww, somebody has bound to have had a steering wheel off of one. If so does one just go to the fuse box for power and one to the radio? I know thats pretty much how fords are

Probably. I was actually gonna put in a DVD player nav combo that the steering wheel controls work on

If the backside of the wheel has the spots for the controls, its possible that its already wired for them.

I remember something about a year ago with someone doing the same thing and got the controls off eBay. It's a pain to put them in, but it worked for them.

I did it to my '06 a while back. I bought a used steering wheel off ebay that had the controls in it. The wheel was the wrong color. I cut the holes in mywheel with a dremel to put the switches in. I also used the wiring harness from the new wheel. I had to use some pins from the old harness to run a wire to the back of the instrument panel. It requires a trip to the dealer to get the option enabled in the computer. I was using the stock REF radio. I just recently changed it out for a Pioneer. Added a box to do the conversion and all still works. After I got used to having them.... I was spoiled. There are some good write ups on some other forums with pics and part numbers. The wiring harness is big money last I saw.

PM me and I'll send you a couple of links. I probably shouldn't post links to another forum.
