04 Questions
Currently looking at an 04 3500 4x4 laramie with auto. Truck is fully loaded leather and all the goodies and has 80,000 on the odometer. Owner claims the truck has never towed a thing, no 5th wheel or goose neck. Guy is looking to get 24k for the truck. Never owned a Dodge and currently own a 01 f250 SD powerstroke 6 spd, 200k on the odometer and virtually no problems other than usual wear problems- clutch at 180k, balljoints at 165k etc.
My question is to those who know, how do Dodge trucks hold up in comparison to the Fords ? I've heard good thing about the 5.9 but have never owned one and was wondering is the 5.9 equal to or better than the 7.3? Is the asking price fair ? What are thing to look for or listen for when looking at the vehicle ?
Not looking to start any pissing matches here. I love my Ford It still drives like new, just looking for something a little newer. Not really liking what I'm hearing about 6.0 and the 6.4's and don't really want to spend 6.7 money at this time.
Thanks

I dont know rastus on that one i have a 93 dodge with the cummins and i love it it has 302 thousand on it and the weak link as far as i can tell on most dodge cummins has been the tranny but as far as i am concerned they all are good pickups in there in different ways depends on what you want to drive

That is about $6k too high.Is it an 04 or 04.5? Big difference in by book.I have 398k miles on mine with the orig trans and injectors.Has towed almost every day of its life.I didnt put an Edge box on till abot 396k.I just returned from Argentina. The Toyota we rented had over 500k miles on a 6 cyl diesel.Wow is the diesel fuel far different from ours.

I bought my 04 in 06.....I paid $21,000 from a dealer......had 91,000 miles on it.....has about 260,000 now......love it. Check the LP. You will need an upgraded tranny if you mod it. Laramie package.......every option offered........was in show room condition. 3500 also. 24K is a bit steep. My 5.9 will kick my B-I-L's 7.3s butt........he has had just as many problems as I have had. That being said, the 7.3 is a good engine......I nor he would own a 6.0........he is a Ford man, and he is looking for an 03 or 04 for his business (will be a towing work hog).
