Default Tranny Questions..

Im looking for a way to make the stock tranny a little stronger i dont want to go all out and order an ATS like i had for my race truck but what are some things i can do to help it hold 400-500 horse without blowing up?

Yep, the following for around $350 (installation extra) will drastically increase its chances of living a long happy life. After that its a TC, billet pieces, more clutches, etc.

You will probably need one of thess to solve the gov solenoid issues also.

Overkill for 400-500 HP. The extreme kits are good for all out performance but not so good for DD and lower power applications. Parts cost are one thing, getting those parts to work correctly together is another story and that takes some specialized knowledge that will cost.

A custom VB is great if you want the extra features but not needed for reliability. ALL VB builds start with a shift kit and the TransGo is as good as they come for the indicated power levels. Even though a custom VB is a good choice your paying about the same cost for it as fixing the whole problem of the stock trans.

For a budget build and minimal power upgrades fixing most of the problems is the key to get things to last longer.
