We have had our 02 cummins since it rolled off the assembly line. it now has more the 230,000 miles. Our lift pump went out at about 190000 miles, but this was because of the new fuel that was being ran. The new ultra low sulfur diesel has no lubrication in it. This truck was meant to run off of low sulfur. So with the new Fass pump and adding diesel fuel supplement to every tank it runs awesome. The cummins starts the best, runs the best and, and pulls the best!!!

Fuel filtration is the most important in keeping your injectors alive. Common Rails MUST have finely filtered fuel. FASS, AirDog and other fuel filtration units of the type will help with injector longevity. If you can get your fuel filtered to 2 microns, youre in the gold. However WIX, Fleetguard fuel filters will also work, as they filter down to about 7 microns, which is still pretty good. Stay away from Autoparts "cheapie" fuel filters b/c lots of them will filter from 10 up to as high as 20 microns. That, my friendis MURDER on CR injectors. I have 139k on my '06 CTD CR on original injectors with no issues whatsoever. I have an aftermarket filtration system. My dad, in his '05 CTD CR has 269k on his original injectors and he also has an aftermarket filtration system on his rig. He has the Airdog 150 gph system on his rig. HE and I both also use PS in the grey bottle to help keep the injectors clean also. Filtration is the key bro.

OMG, I came here to ask the EXACT same thing! My 2003 Powersuck F250 I have had for a week and it's only driven 1 out of the 7 days... In shop for hpop I think... Arrrggghhh... I'll read your replies and see if I get a clear answer. If not, what did you end up doing? Are you happy with your choice?

superior Fuel filtration is the best thing you can do for a cummins CR. Cummins injectors dont like dirt and crud. That will kill them faster than sh*t. Fuel filters on the cheap is a no no. Updade fuel filtration and the injectors will be happy for a long long time. The good thing about a cummins TD is after your truck falls apart around the cummins, just put the cummins in another truck and youre good to go......
