My Guess is its to keep the bolts from loosening and backing out. I believe there is one on the bottom of 5 and 6 as well. However, like posted, odd that its only on 5 and 6.

Better make it a Ford, them chevies are way to lightweight...

He said for me to put 10,000lbs behind it and go for a 200 mile trip and he bets that the problem goes away. Interesting... Now for some pics...

So lets hear some others chime in... How heavy do you pull... How often... How many Miles on the Truck... and what color are you spacers?
I say that cummins is right on the. take it out and work it.

When I bought my 2006, It had 1500 miles on it when I hooked up to 14000#s
and dove from NY to GA and then to AZ.

Nice work out for the mighty cummins ..

So far it runs like a freight train, the only smoke is black when the Bully Dog is on..

Default I can t buy that

06 5.9 CTD 111000. miles 50000 with my travel Trailer and a pair of ATVS . Located in SW Louisiana. Avg temp 80deg. Mine has blown white smoke on startup beginning around 50K miles. Never more than a few seconds. Run it like you stole it are out for a sunday drive makes NO difference. If she sits more than 5 hours SHES going to smoke. No rough idle great preformance. Just that darn blue white smoke! Shes bone stock except for the K&N filter system. Run only Mobil1 full syn. I'm the only owner so I know what Shes been through. Love to figure this out. If anyone finds the answer please forward it . I need 2 more years are 250K miles then Shes gone. Thanks

VP 24V had a issue with the back manifold bolts backing out so dodges fix was the retaining strap.

Im at 68K on the 06 and tow on average 5-10K almost every other day. My spacers are nice and bronze!

Like the rep said just run the heck out of it for a couple days and see where youre at.

Could this be bad fuel. If there is not enough Cetane in the fuel to float a hydrometer then you will get white smoke and rough idle. I would at least test it. We get alot of this in my area!
