put a G56 in it with a dual disk and you will have no problem handling any tune.

I guess thats the constant argument in the back of my head billet this billet that for the 48re only to be assured that it still has limitations even after 6000 dollars later while I could do a conversion and not have half the worries which does seem relatively realistic i dont mind driving standard thats all i used to drive only got an auto because of the deal i got on it. 6-speed the value automatically sky rockets plus I will admit I was undereducated at the point of buying it. Now im kind of scared about the 48re I looked into the conversion and there was a few things that kinda threw me off. I do NOT want a manual t-case I prefer the auto dial style and from what ive seen and havent necessarily heard is that you need a different t-case altogether a manual one. You need a longer rear driveshaft and a shorter front driveshaft? Bottom line the cost would be relatively the same for a auto trans that could take 600hp or a manual trans that could take as much as the clutch can give it? With that being said from what I "hear" the manual trans is gonna run circles around the life of a 48re. To be clear I want a transmission that is not only gonna stand up to power but be able to live a long life. I dont want to drop 6 grand on an auto and still have to baby it. I understand the auto will be much quicker and that I dont plan on any heavy towing but whats more realistic? Id spend 6k on an auto but I wouldnt mind shifting every day whats the argument then? Im sure almost everyone is gonna say go standard. Ive heard of standard trucks being referred to as "mini semis" just because of the power and load they can handle... and I had thought I put this argument with myself away but **Suggestions please on comparisons between the 48re and the G56** Thank you.

Something else to think about.
If you did go with a manual and a Smarty you would have to get a file from Bob Wagner that would change parameters in the ecm to operate for the manual transmission.

Wait until that electronic shifter fails...its default is "neutral", and leaves you stranded. There were lots of threads on this on the forums over the years.

Automatic and long life...in the same sentence?

IMHO the G56 is as problematic as the auto...it is not worth the effort to swap from an auto to a G56...maybe from an auto to the NV5600, but not the G56.

if your not really towing heavy or doing anything along those lines the automatic when its built should be fine.. i just dont like the thought of having to get one built then having a chance of an even more expensive tranny to replace..

its all personal preference. the g56 is good, but i believe it's more problematic than the NV5600's. not 100% sure on that, though

Problem with the NV5600 is that replacement parts and the transmissions themselves are getting more expensive.

Guess you just have to find the facts.

The aftermarket is supporting the NV5600...you can get about every piece for them except the case.

I owned one...yes, I researched it; a lot.

i also own one, and have looked around and it seems there is a ton of aftermarket options for it. dont know whats trying to be proven here

back on point...

to the OP, i would definitely beef it up a little bit before throwing more power to it if it was MY truck. but thats the choices that have to be figured out on your own all we can give is opinions
