How safe is a Smarty on a 48RE Trans?

From what they advertise even the highest setting on bone stock vehicles will not ruin any drivetrain on your vehicle. Is this true? Anyone have any experience? The programmer will be the only hp mod I have injectors are stock.

I would be afraid to use one on an auto that wasnt built some. But thats just me and from what ive read. I have no real world experience with one, so hopefully someone chimes in that owns one stock with a smarty!

If you have a stock tranny they don't recommend running anything over the 60hp tune. It's the level 3 setting. Running it on level 9 would cook the trans in short order I believe...

With REVO Smarty does not recommend tuning over SW3.

BD makes a pressure lock device for the tranny witch reduces pressure buildup at acceleration you can look it up and get more info on that. That will help

Alright I was looking at those switches those do seem like they would help. Would just a new Torque Converter be enough of a beef up? Or a valve body too.

I mean how much HP could a auto trans hold even maxed out? Im talking triple disc torque converter, Pressure boost module, High pressure valve body, Billet input and output shafts. How much could that even handle?

On the 70HP tune, on the SmartyJR; I could slip the OE clutch in front of my NV5600 at will...I am sure a stock auto would not hold up unless it was babied, especially if it has any miles on it. I wouldn't consider a power adder until I address the transmission weaknesses.

Stock plus smarty = toast!!
Get a TQ and Valvebody at a minimum!
reducing line pressure sounds like slipping clutch packs and fried steels!
Call Goerend and do it right the first time!

Yep, ask me how I know. :argh:

You will need, at a minimum, a shift kit and a few small internal pieces. A VB will work as well with the internal pieces.

A billet cover TC will need to be planned for. The stamped covers under extra power and pressure WILL warp and loosen the TC bolts. Again, ask me how I know. :w2:

So torque converter and valve body then?
