Safe to drive on 5 cylinder ?
I have a 07 5.9 with about 200,000 kms on it and it has a ton of blue smoke coming out the crank vent. I had a mechanic look at it and tell me number 5 is gone and that it would probably cost more to rebuild then it would to find a used one.
My question is can I unplug the injecter and drive the truck until I can get the new engine.
Thanks

well find out why number five is out can be as simple as a bad injector o-ring or a bad valve guide?? or bad rings, you dont necceasly need to rebuild it or replace. the truck is barley broken in??? if you only run on five cylinders you risk ruining your crank and when you go to rebuild it will cost you a pretty penny, but I would dig deeper before going that far as to replace the engine... its worth having it looked into before you drop alot of money om another engine, do you run at Idle alot?? what do you use the truck for, that mechanic can be looking to do a free replacement at no cost to him and rip you off.
