Default axle swap question

my 24v is lifted with 35s and 3.54 gears which is great cruising but not towing. My buddy recently acquired a 97 v10 truck with 4.10s which would help a little with towing I figure. I can get them at a good price, problem is mine is a 98.5 and it's a 97 will they work I know a lot changed between those years. thanks and my truck is not a daily driver I use it when I need a truck.

you should be fine to interchange the ring and pinion, i would suggest however making sure that you replace all of your bearings, and make sure you get a new crush sleeve and set your gear mesh up correctly

Yeah you should be good. Before you buy just measure perch to perch and roughly where the shock tabs are. Also be sure they are both 60's or 70's because pinion length could be different leading to new drive shafts. Just something to watch out for

Ya axles are the same its a 70 60 I just didn't know how the older ones ran the speedo etc. I'm going back over Wednesday to look it over good. I didn't really want to swap gear sets I just kinda wanted to slap it in they look similar but I'm gonna check it all tomorrow just wondering about electronics.

I believe the speedo cables went to transmissions. There is probably just a speed sensor plug on the back rear.
