2001 dodge ram 3500. just installed a jasper tranny. cold air intake.removed a diablo puck and a superchip programer. throttle position senor replaced 8 mo's aqo. f.a.s.s. lift pump
now rough idle morning starts with alot of black smoke until i get underway and press acc pedal down twice. when hit a bump in the road the turbo boost falls to half and rpms go to 1500. when i press the pedal up & down twice the turbo kicks in and boost goes to normal. one shop said the injection pump wiring harness is bad. another shop says it is the injection pump. i have only p1693/1694 codes. the mech found the same thing on his reader.dont know what to do.

 

Sounds like you're describing dead pedal, and you need an injection pump

Check the connection/plug at the vp44 and make sure everything is connected as it should be. Do you know fuel pressure? Pusher or aftermarket lift pump?

 

dont know pressure.replaced a working lift pump with a fass pump a month ago. had the truck a year now and as far as i know, the lift pump always worked. someone cut off plug at injection pump and wirenutted it back. i thought that might be the problem. i will check the pressure. was hoping it is not inj.pump. bought this truck a year ago and spent more $ into the truck than i paid for it. thanks for your help.
