dose the notice go to the second onwer of the truck or the orginal? Is the law suit still in affect, where would i have to go to have it looked at to make sure its ok or if it is cracked will the replace it? thanks for all the info on this block problem. Im just seeing more and more dollar signs with the truck and feel i am paying to much. so ever less dollar i have to spend other then HP parts sucks

if the block is pissing anti freeze then your fucked. it costs over 5k to fix the crack because the entire motor needs to be stripped, its the labor that kills you. if your trans is bad as well then your double fucked cause thats 3k for stock rebuilt and this truck is only worth 3k at most with all its issues... dont buy it

I got a 53 and so does my Buddy I have 223K and no crack I just dont run her hard and put her up wet. Let her sit and cool on hard or long haule Where they crack is generally behind the Inspection plate for the push rods, if you leaking antifrezze there you would see it in you oil. Also cummins do get warped heads and when that happpens they can burn a litlle anti freeze. Smell you exhauset if its sweet or white when its warm you may be burnin it. I have yet to ever trust cast iron welding to be honest with ya. Espicially since I can remeber when theu switch from Cast to God damn cant remeber now its a diffrent material when I remeber I will say something. Also what your tranny doin???

way to revive an old thread
but since you did...
not all 53's crack, and 53's aren't the only one with the cracking problem...
55 blocks and storm blocks have also cracked... I've seen 2 cracked 55 blocks already. crack in the same spot as the 53 blocks.
as for 53's I have a 53 block with 238k miles on it and 576hp 1285tq @ the rear wheels and it has towed heavy all its life up until 5 years ago when I got it, and now it has well over double its hp and tq and still going strong.
if you are really worried about it, do like I do: let it get up to full operating temp (190*) before you drive it hard. I drive easy on mine till its at full temp, then I give her hell

guess my joke of a sig kinda gives that away
I have too many mods to list in a sig...so I use the same sig on here, compd, and dogeforum. cumminsforum has most of my mods listed because I'm a chapter president over there, so I get extra sig lines
