Default scary steering

I just bought this truck a couple of months ago put new fass platinum and 4 inch exhaust new tires 265 75 16 and brakes runs great I checked out front end everything seems nice and tight well I took it upstate on a trip holds the road pretty good except when there was some construction down to one lane nearly crapped myself the steering needs to be a little tighter now mind you I drive all kinds of trucks big and bigger and this seemed a little to loose for me before I start throwing all kinds of money at this what are the likely suspects track bar shocks like I said ball joints and the rest seem to check out any ideas or is this just typical dodge?

Evening. . Have someone work the wheel back and forth about 1/4 turn each way with the engine running to check tie rod ends and track bar for play and if it is a 4wd check axle u-joints for rust/play/or binding. pt

Also check that you steering self centres. If not...you may have a ball joint that looks/feels tight but is acually siezed. It will feel like you have to herd it down the road. 'ie' chasing it side to side. good luck pt

On a 2nd gen yes. All 2nd gens have whats called a "death wobble". Read this article. It explains better.

Yup death wobble comes standard with most of these trucks!! It can be caused by any number of things. Usually the Trac bar is the number one culprit from my experience. Sloppy steering could be from bad tie rods, or the box being bad as well.
