transmission problem

my 5 speed trans in my 1999 cummins wont go into 1st or 2nd but every other gear works fine. could this trans just need fluid?

nope. will it go into gear with the engine off? sounds pretty broken

Probably your clutch, more than likely it's shot. Had this happen too, started spinning in third, wouldn't take fourth, pretty soon first, second and fifth disappeared. My bets' your clutch, take it apart an find out

took it to the trans shop today and where my stick conects to first and second broke my clutches and everything else was just fine.
