My reverse grinds all the time... And u shift way to much and cant use the actual power of the truck because u have to hit the next gear right away... Just my opinion w driving one... I will be considering a 5 speed when i need a trans..

All the tranny shops around here will only do a rebuild. They do not just replace syncros. All have argued with me because they think it could be something else, but I think it is cause they want the money for the rebuild. Guess I'll just drive it and see what happens...

If your gonna go with a 6spd nv5600's are stronger than a g56 your better off finding someone you know who can just swap the synchros out its not that hard

They want to rebuild it cause' otherwise when it's more than just syncros then you're going to be pissed that they just changed the syncros,CYOA situation.

I could see if they would just say it is probably more than syncros and if we get in there and it needs a rebuild; we recommend you do that as replacing the syncros will not fix the problem. Obviously I'm not a tranny expert because I'm calling them, but I know you don't just rebuild a motor because one part is bad. However, saying we are just going to rebuild it and charge you $1400 sounds like bs to me.

My friend's brother does all kind of tranny work, but he is booked. I know its not that hard so I figured one of the local shops wouldn't be too bad if I ripped it out and gave it to them for a few days. Honestly I'm kinda worried because while I am in there I might as well swap out the factory clutch for a southbend dd, but I don't have the money and I have not driven it enough to know it is going to be a solid truck. There are still a bunch of things wrong. Why do you say the NV5600 is stronger than the G56?
