vp44 hot problem
I have a 2001 6 speed truck that runs great except when it cold starts it either dies or almost then will fire right back up and if i drive it a couple of hours on the interstate it will start acting like it has a dead spot in the pedal. I am going to put a pressure guage on the fuel line today what pressure should i look for? It pulled several pump codes and a pcm code on my last interstate trip but has run great as long as I dont run it 80mph for an hour or so. Have I killed the vp44 or maybe need a lift pump? Where is the cheapest place to get a stock vp. My truck is stone stock and has 195k on it never used to tow. It did sit for over a year wrecked and was very hard to start the first time so could that cause a problem. Thanks

These truck are notorious for weak lift pumps, causing the injection pump to fail even on stock trucks. Pressure wise you don't want to see much less then 10 PSI at wide open throttle. If your looking to upgrade any parts, I strongly advise seeing what our sponsors can do for you. It may take a little while longer to get you the parts, but it will save you money for sure. I have yet to find anything local that has a better price then any of our sponsors, even with shipping.
