could a person just pull the pump out of the sending unit

Not without some modification. The pump is also the pick up screen. Pulling the pump out would render the bottom 4" of your tank non usable. You could extend the hose, but I don't think it would work too well. It would probably have the 1/4 tank issues. If your going to go through the hassle to pull the box to try and pull the lift pump out, I would put the Vulcan Draw Straw V in.

that looks easy to do my pump only takes bout 10 15 min to pull out so that wouldnt be to bad to put in

10 to 15 minutes? How do you figure so quick? I thought I was doing well pulling the bed off in 25 minutes.

i have a foot of space between my bed and tankk so all i have to do is un hook and lift it out i love my flat bed set up wish all was that easy the hardest part is removing the fuel lines

when it is blowing white smoke is it also fighting to stay runing? if so i had this on my truck and i found that if i got under and hit the fuel pump it sometimes ran right. long term replacing the fuel pump is a deffinate must. also check wiring as oil and junk can get in and cuase shorts and or lift pump failure

the new lift pump was down and they r putting the injector pump and pressure gauge in tomaarow or the next day wish i had the money to put a raptor lift pump on

thanks for all the info yall have helped alot im good with the bigger diesel engines but this is the 1st of these that i have had to try to work on

got the truck back new lift pump and vp truck runns better then ever still loses pedal from time to time but thank air filter may have some effect on it
