Upgraded Ball Joints are they out there
Its time again to replace the ball joints in the front and I was wondering if anyone has upgraded ones that last. I have 315's on the front no lift or anything. I just cant get a stock set to last to good. Any info would be great or even what to stay away from as well

What I didn't know until miles down the road
I've had my 2001 4x4 since new, and now that its aging and getting a few miles on it, I decided to learn a little about these 'jewels'.
I found out a little ignorance can be bliss, if your lucky. If your not , it can cost a lot of cash.
What I Learned:
Apparently, Dodge decided to downgrade the size of the front ends on the 2001's verses the earlier models ('Bean' counters). So if you have a 2000 or older, your ball joints are going to last longer (130-150,000) than us unlucky 2001 new and improved owners. The front-ends on these heavy diesels are lighter duty than many of the early 70-80's 4x4's and wear accordingly. They are 'junk' in street vernacular.
So, getting more than 4-5 years (if you baby it) from the ball joints is a bonus. (60-70,000) is probably the norm. After that your riding on junk and affecting and multiplying your steering 'wear factors'. Learning can be fun!
