Upgraded Ball Joints are they out there

Its time again to replace the ball joints in the front and I was wondering if anyone has upgraded ones that last. I have 315's on the front no lift or anything. I just cant get a stock set to last to good. Any info would be great or even what to stay away from as well

thanks:rocking:

If you contact Shocker, one of our sponsors here on the site, I think he sells some heavy duty rebuildable ones that look like they would survive a bomb blast. Not cheap, but heavy duty.

I have the MOOG non adjustable uppers and normal lowers on my truck with 35's and no issues.

I run 19.5 wheels that are heavier then most 37 inch tires and I've changed mine once in over 200,000 miles. I just have whatever cheap non-adjustables Auto Zone sold me.

What I didn't know until miles down the road

I've had my 2001 4x4 since new, and now that its aging and getting a few miles on it, I decided to learn a little about these 'jewels'.

I found out a little ignorance can be bliss, if your lucky. If your not , it can cost a lot of cash.

What I Learned:

Apparently, Dodge decided to downgrade the size of the front ends on the 2001's verses the earlier models ('Bean':scare2: counters). So if you have a 2000 or older, your ball joints are going to last longer (130-150,000) than us unlucky 2001 new and improved owners. The front-ends on these heavy diesels are lighter duty than many of the early 70-80's 4x4's and wear accordingly. They are 'junk' in street vernacular.

So, getting more than 4-5 years (if you baby it) from the ball joints is a bonus. (60-70,000) is probably the norm. After that your riding on junk and affecting and multiplying your steering 'wear factors'. Learning can be fun!

Moog ball joints are probably some of the best you can use. Keep up on greasing them, and make sure they are installed properly and they will be perfect :tu:
