The headlights and the whole lift pump/injector pump issues are definitely the wost things with these trucks.
This is what I did:
I wetsanded the lenses with 2000 grit, then polished real good with some metal polish (blue stiff cant remember which), then followed up with a coat of wax. This produced marginal improvement but did give some.
The biggest problem with the stock headlights is they are not getting a full 12V at the bulbs. I went to www.lmctruck.com and ordered p/n: 55-9505 and put in some better bulbs. This puts some relays in, takes a lot of strain off of your headlights switch (which have been known to burn up - especially with higher wattage aftermarket bulbs) and some heavier guage wire and allows a full 12V to get to your bulbs.
This made a pretty big improvement for a relatively small investment ($40 + $8 for new bulbs). The above combined with some new clear lenses will help a lot:

I would say there are probably better options....I think converting to sport headlights (2 bulbs per lights and possibly two harnesses per light+ better bulbs) or going to hid's would give you the best lighting possible.
HID's are an option but I am leary to spend that kind of money because the reflector housings that we have in these trucks wernt designed for HIDs and dont seem to work all that well with them either (from the reports Ive seen). I would like to step up to HID's but I am going to do a little more research first.
If you have any questions Greg, Ill try to answer them.

Sure it does...and its pretty easy to do. But, having low and high beams on at the same time is possibly illegal in some areas, as is driving around with driving lights on. In some areas, you can get a ticket for having driving lights without a cover.
