Shut Mouth VP, lift pump help!!!

ok so i have a long story and i am also needing some help, so please bare with me. My truck has been acting like it wasnt getting fuel, so i thought i was my fuel filter. I went to autozone and bought one, After school i planned on going home and changing it. Well on my way home my truck just died while i was just crusing down a 25mph street. I go a can of starting fluid and tried starting it, then my battery died from all the cranking, so my grandpa ( who works at napa) went down to the store to get a booster pack. We finally got it started and i just went to my grandpas house, because i didnt think it would go all the way to my house, so i change the filter and it is pretty dirty but nothing too bad. so after i got it going i went to my buddys house, i let it idle for about 30 mins to get my battery charged. After i went and checked on it i thought i would take it around the block to see if it would quit acting funny, well i get half way afound the block going threw a stop sign and i just dies!! So i had to go and get my buddy to tow it to his house. Now i just waiting on my mechanic (Brian Vannest) to tow it to his house on the flatbed. SO can anyone tell me what it could be, i have just ben worried that it is vp pump

Fuel pressure at the VP? A gauge is a very cheap way to monitor fuel pressure.

put a fass sytem on and tell him 2 by pass the lift pump very easy to do. it will save ur new lift pump. it will run 17 psi at idol and 16 on highway. which is very good. they r about 700. but atleast this way u wont have 2 buy another lift pump. jus get the fass pump and a new injection pump. it will last so much longer. the lift pumps are junk

Alot companies sell them as a kit as well, like you can get a new soVP and a fass system for certain amount. Good luck
