my 6 spd in my 01 is squealing badly when i downshift its sqealing. my tailshaft seal is shot. so it is driaing fluid sometimes. the guy i bought it from probably ran it dry a few different times could this squealing be the tranny finaly going down from all the miss-use? it sqealings from 4th down. 6th to 5th to 4th isn't a problem its 4th to 3rd and down. its geting steadily worse and i need to figure out whats going on. any ideas?

 

check your exhaust manifold bolts

 

its either right under the cab. or behind it. so i assumed it would be the trannsmission. how would the exhuast manifold bolts affect this?

 

look at #6, if the bolts start backin out it sounds like a squeel or some high pitch noise

 

ive checked everything out that i can. and it apears to be the t-case. the tranny has oil. and all manifold bolts r tight. i pulled the front drive shaft just to see what might happen and it apeared to get better. but im not exactly sure what that means

 

Have you tried the same shift patterns in 4x4?
