Machining Head After Blown Gasket??
So, my head gasket blew. I didnt over heat anything at all but I was running series 3000 tunes on my ADR. I was told that its too much drive pressure on the stock turbo (making 40 psi of boost). I was also told that because i didnt cook the head that i dont need to machine it?!? Anyone know if thats true? I bought the socket head bolts from Diesel PAP, i heard they are better then stock ones. I also have an OEM CUMMINS head gasket.
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!
Machining is only necessary if there is any warpage, and as you said it didn't over heat you should be fine. Once the head is off and clean, you can check the head with a straight edge and feeler gauges.

I havent taken it anywhere... I just dont want to take it somewhere and have them charge me to machine it when it didnt need it JUST because they wanted to make money! I have trust issues LOL!
I was told you cant ring the head without machining the block too.
This local place wants 250 just to clean, check and deck the head. I can barley afford that UNLESS my Intercooler Kit sells.. Then ill do the WORKS!
