do you have to change your ecm? i was told the computer is totally different. seems like the 02 had some changes done to it that wont fit on other years either.

i did change my ecm because i found a combo with harness for cheap! i didn't even try it with the standard ecm so i don't know if you have to or not. the ecm i used was a 99 in my 2000 and it worked but i do know that the 01-02 would not work in my truck, so i dunno what to tell ya there just trial and error i guess.

The 01 and 02 are completely different ecms from the other years as far as wiring harness goes and they are also different from each other as well so yes you will have to find a 02 ECM and harness cause none of the rest will fit 02 just has cam sensor I believe the 01 does have both cam and crank sensors but not to sure but the sensors and harnesses are different though and from what I have been told if you do find a ECM the PCM has to match on the 01 and 02 and if not then you have to find one that is the same type of truck with all the same everything but with a manual and hope it works and not throw your truck in limp mode so basically your best bet is to get a ECM and PCM from a manual 02 and go from there and I do know where one is but I know the ECM is about 500 and PCM goes for around 350 or so
