Default What Does A Machine Shop Charge To Machine A Head?

Guys my head gasket is starting to dribble a little antifreeze out of it. Whats it going to cost me to get it fixed? I want to stud and ring it while I'm there. I'm just wanting to see what some of you have paid so I know I'm not gonna get ripped off when I go to have it done. Also what gasket do you suggest? And does anyone know of any good shops that will stud and ring it for me in missouri/kansas area?
Thanks

changed the title to divert odd comments.....

i was quoted ~$1100 to do a valve job, porting, new springs, locks, retainers, groves cut for o-rings..... and some other voo-doo work...... i figured that wasn't a bad price.....

i was quoted $300 for the machining...but that doesnt include labor if they need to take the head off for you which would be an extra $400-500 depending on the shop charges for labor
