When is someone going to figure out the vp44s and make them more reliable?

 

I think they are figured out, and it's all about supply fuel. Need to have enough of it to keep them cool. The majority of failures are electric due to overheating. Unless that is the part you are referring to.

 

I agree the RA the vp 44 is a good pump as long as you can keep the fuel going through it to help cool it off.

 

but i hear of these vp44 pumps still going out even with raptor 100 pumps on them?

There is a thread on here about replacing the most commonly burnt out piece. Looks like a skilled hand is required.

 

Keep the pressure above 10 psi at all times and it'll stay cool most likely, you have to remember though that all parts on our trucks weren't designed to last forever and they will go out. Fass or airdog or raptor it doesn't matter the pump will eventually go out. It also will depend on how the truck is driven also imo

keepin fuel pressure is a good thing...i dont know if you could find some way to keep the elec wrapped or insulated or something.

 

Not really, as the electronics that get damaged are under the top cover of the pump itself. Maybe a tin shield between the block and pump, that might help. Like a starter shield for gas pots with headers.

 

Ive heard of some guys putting computer type fans to blow air on the pump. I doubt it helps much but maybe it would.

Another thing to consider to help with cooling is to keep your tank as full as possible. These engines return quite a bit of fuel to the tank so if your tank is near empty there isnt much buffer to help cool the fuel.
