Default fuel temp

Another thing to consider to help with cooling is to keep your tank as full as possible. These engines return quite a bit of fuel to the tank so if your tank is near empty there isnt much buffer to help cool the fuel.
Was comparing the other day with my Edge W/A, 75 degrees outside, and at a quarter tank my fuel temp was in the high 120's, filled the truck up and on the way home it settled in the 90's.

Keep them above half tank!

Is there anything to be lost or gained by putting in a fuel cooler to help this?

Just a thought.

There is a huge thread on TDR about fuel coolers and keeping the fuel temps below 90*. I'll have to go reread it again because I don't remember what they concluded.

Some good info on upgraded VP44s. Most reputable shops will probably do the same.

I've found out from having to replace a VP that running a chip and programmer at the same time will also cause them to fail

I have been wondering if a heat sink on top of the pump would do any good for the electronics. A heat sink Steal Plate for those that want to tap the pump as well.

You could also run some tubing or something from behind the grill and make a sort of "ram air" cooler for the pump.

"Ram Air" is one option, I guess. But why not just a small 12V fan on/around the heat sink?

I may investigate this further, but betting a fuel cooler would do the trick as well
