General question
Hi everyone, I just purchased an 02 xcab 2wd to tow a 5th wheel around the country. I have a few question for anyone with more knowledge than me. Am I in the right place?
It depends what is your question?
If its general questions about your truck you should be posting here:
24 Valve 2nd Gen Dodge Cummins 98.5-02 - Diesel Bombers
If your questions are about performance or aftermarket parts you should be posting here:
5.9L 24V Bombs (Aftermarket) - Diesel Bombers
Thanks for asking and Welcome

Hi, It runs great. Did have the TPS trouble code, replaced that, pretty spendy. I have come to learn that is a common problem. It appears that the fuel guage doesn't read properly, it started to or appeared to begin running out at a 1/4 tank.
i dont have the part number handy but you can buy just the "sending unit float leveler" from the dealer only. for around 70$
otherwise you can replace the whole module inside the tank which i believe is called "Fuel Tank Reservior" but that is approx 300$ at rockauto.com
i had to replace the whole module because mine was rusted away and fell apart in my tank. but i hear lots can get away with just replacing the float arm.

Thanks. That's good info. What would be your reccomendations for my use, I tow a 26' 5th wheel from state to state, usually disconnect for a few months and then use the truck daily sometimes 200-300 miles. Thr rig runs good now, tows well and the such, I just want to make it last. A little more "umph" wouldn't be bad either.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
The best thing is to take it to a good diesel guy and have him check it out real good, compression, valve springs, hoses, belts etc., then you can decide what if any upgrades you need. My 98 12 valve has 130,000 miles on it and mantainence issues keep cropping up.
