Whit, do a cluster test just for ***** and giggles...

Hold the trip button while you turn the key to run and let it do its thing till it chimes to tell you its done. If nothin else you get to watch the needles move all over and all the digital stuff light up...

Yeah as you said you hold the trip button turn the key and hold the button till it says check on the odometer then you can let off and once it looks like its all done start the truck, dont turn off the key then start just start it and it will carry on the test. I just went and did this thinking that my tach was broken and all seemed to check out.

Also, the odo should spit out some other codes, related to the cluster. Stuff the scanner usually won't pull.

i got a 5.9 2001 and i found my CAMshaft position sensor to be bad
and playing around whit my needle,sometimes 0rpm sometime 3000rpm

replaced it and never had a problem since...
but what a pain to replace it under the vp44

thanks for that tip........ya I saw it back there....just replaced the VP last week it would have been a cinch to do it then

well **** so much fer that....new VP-44 and I thought things were all good now...............truck shut off 2 times last night on the way home


I think I need to sell it and buy a Toyota

I checked the codes via the odometer window deal and with my OBDII and came up with nuttin

Hey Whitt han't seen ya at work (since I'm on the DARK SIDE) anything figured out yet. How much ya want for the old girl, I'll trade ya my Toyota work car!! I'll even trow in a case of your favorite beverage. seriosly hope it ain't the ECU.
