I will have to get the fuel pressure gauage ASAP. I do change the fuel filter on a regular basis. About every 10,000 miles. I've tried to heed the warnings, just didn't know the fuel gauge was so imperative.

agreed... though mine still did becuz it was so clogged... but you kept up with changing it so.... thats about all the exp ive had with this problem.

what about cracking injector lines?? someone came into my buddies shop today with a truck with similar problems and all that need done was cracking/bleeding of injector lines. though id think this prolly would cause a problem when running no? not just starting hard.. when warm

Having the fass should mean that you dont need a fuel pressure guage - but any pump can fail (which is unlikely in this case) and if you dont have a fuel pressure guage you wont realize that the lift pump has failed and it could cost you an injection pump.

Newest development....A diesel shop has speculated that the Fass pump has caused the problem because the pump puts out so much pressure. He stated that the diaphragm in the injection pump is bad and allowing fuel on "?both sides?" On the Fass website it actually adressess this problem and provides a solution. Still says to replace the IP though....

Too little pressure is bad too much pressure is bad. This is why you need a fuel pressure guage.

The shop is likely right.

as i was telling you treedoc, i fixed my sisters truck with fass hard starting issues. just put the hot wire on the electric window wire. this way fass doesnt run when cranking and when you release the key the fass starts running. it was 2 years ago since i done this. its worth a try

Another thing to do is to park the truck on facing downhill on a downhill slant. If it starts up immediately on cranking, then you have an air leak somewhere in your fuel lines...it's a quick way to test, and it's free....
