truck made 3-98 it has a 24 valve instead of 12 ??????
my problem is truck will charge sometimes but no all the time, alternator has 3 wires and a ground but they are no in a plug they all bolt on. Does anyone have any ideas?

 

You got the 98.5 model year. That's when they went to the 24 valve. You got a dirty connection at the crank sensor, or the sensor is bad.

 

truck runs fine but i will check sensor thanks

 

Or your alternator is going. You can have NAPA or a similar parts store check it out on their bench tester.
