first check the connections on all the wires on the VP and ECM. check the ground wires. If everything checks out and you are still getting that code, then youve got a junk VP and you need to get your money back.

yeah it could be a junk ECM, i had a couple for sale a few weeks ago, sold them, ill have to see if i can track down another for you if you need it. But we really need to confirm that it is the ECM first, no sense in shotgunning it. do you know of anyone locally with the same yr truck and same transmission as you?

do you still have the old vp44 that you think died??
Because from all iv read thats going on and if the keyway is on it may be something else but who knows
as for the sliping a tooth on the gear yes this can happen So now do you think it did???
If thats still not the problem and you have the old vp it say just pay up and have it checked out that will tell you a lot right there. sorry to hear of all the troubles i my self had the same luck with my front end this week. I took vacation to go hunting and haven left the shop so, feal ya

OH on another note if may be worth pulling it to your local shop if they have the chrysler scan tool but make sure they have the dodge/ chrysler factory scan tool, because this will probe deep and is really worth it in these kinda moments.they found 4 extra things that i had not idea about and my sacn tool i used never picked it up. its usully around 100 to have it done

Now have that old VP tested. You may find out it's fine, sell it and get your money back for the one you bought.
