Default Let it warm up first.

Jigabop,

Excellent point. I agree; any engine should be warmed up before driving. That's one of the benefits of using an engine block heater in the winter for outside tempertures below 25 degrees F.

56 block is the only one I have seen so far that has not had any cracking issues.

for cracked blocks, I have seen 53 blocks the most common
55 blocks I've seem a few crack, and STORM blocks I have seen one or two crack. they all crack in the same spot.

wherever you can find one for a decent price...

wrecking yard, ebay, craigslist, etc...

55 and storm blocks are rare to crack though. even 53 blocks are pretty rare to crack...

get an uncracked block for a decent price and take care of it. warm it up or take it easy on it before driving it hard.

even an uncracked 53 would work...my block is a 53 block with 240k miles and 576hp to the wheels... no cracks
