is it an auto or 5speed. replacing the headgasket may not solve the issue if it isnt installed corectly. i had to replace mine 2 times because of this isseu. highly doubt its the oil cooler them do go out as often but if you need one i have 2 laying around becuase i thought the same thing

its an automatic.took it to a supposivly certified diesel mechanic and he replaced the head gasket had the head shaved back down. it wasnt off by much. 1,000.00 later i'm in the same boat. now told it sounds like oil cooler.

what color is it? if its a grey color its oil pulling the oil cooler aint to bad to have it pressure tested but like i said they dont go out as often as one would think, unless you have a cracked block since it s a 24v posibly a 53 block

Never Heard of one cracking on the inside. I would be 100% positive that it wasnt a 53, and was in no way affiliated with it being a 53. The only thin casting portion of the 53 was in the exterior water jacket!
