Boost issues.... HELP
I have a 2002 Dodge ram 2500 SO Cummins.*BONE STOCK*
It's automatic.
Last night I got stuck pretty bad in some mud, The truck was working hard and heating up, so I turned it off. Bad idea, because when I went to turn the truck back on it was hotter than ever.
Turns out my coolant resevoir had a crack in it. However today upon driving I think I may have broken something.
Symptoms:
-Dark smoke out tailpipe upon entering boost, clears up though.
-Tea kettle whistle sound while in boost, gets louder with RPM and increased boost.
HOWEVER: Truck retains its same power.
Both symptoms where not apparent prior to this event, and it leads me to believe I have a boost related Issue. (Pinhole boost leak??)
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks, Sobo

I would say intercooler or a Shot turbo, you can easily blow a head gasket like that as well. Hope for the best , look for the worst.

Also , The intake gasket (the long one) will cause the tea pot whistle your getting. I've seen folks take their fuel filter housing off and not put shorter bolts back in. Causes a nice whistle , not to mention its next to the map sensor so it could by a long shot cause that smoke as well!

I never took my fuel filter housing off either so...
It's gotta be:
1. Boost couplers
2. Intercooler
3. Intake manifold gasket
4. turbo(although it spools fine and also has little to no shaft play... maybe the heat caused a seal to get shot..)
