Default tranmission problem!!!

I have a Question? My buddy haves a 1999 dodge 1500 with a 360 that's is a auto trans. When he drives it down the road it dose not want to shift.... But he can shift it on his own....Dose anyone have any idea what it could be not up to date with electric stuff. That's Why i have a 12v...

The trans more than likely need to be rebuilt. It could be just the valve body but hard to tell with out looking at it.

No upshift is usually the speed sensor in the trans.

if not up shift from 1st prob speed sensor like mentioned above
if no shifting or really very fast shifting, and/or taking off in 3rd. probably governor pressure sensor and solenoid.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

and the 12v used the same exact tranny as a 24v and the gassers, electrical and hydraulic versions

My vote would be governor pressure sensor and solenoid. Have seen several Dodge tranny's with this issue, mine was one of them. No shifting unless done manually. Bought the parts and put them in during a flud change and viola, shifted another 60k miles until I fried it.
