Roaring? Mine whistles alot more the more you build up pressure. Fill out you signature so we know what all you have done to your truck. You may be hearing it blowing by your wastegate? I think thats about what the stock wastegates are set for. Oh and just tighten up all your intake clamps. I checked mine and they were quite loose. May be leaking there.

Yeah,I had a boot leaking, mine would not make more than about 25psi for a while,I was like "WTF?!" then I was working on it and saw that the corner of a boot on the bottom had moved, and it had blasted the boot.32psi no problem now.

Generally speaking the HX35 will work to about 350HP. It's really out of it's map at that point as well, but it will work.

The hybrid is a good option if you are never going to add any additional power. It'll work up to 400HP. I would also do a 14cm wastegated housing to help lower drive pressure a little.

But all these turbos are going to run into drive pressure spikes at some point.

Fishin2 - that's good info. Is that 350HP when towing 12k? Or 350HP just running around unloaded?

Thanks, Mike

Ok so I was coming back from taking my sister to and the juice settin on 4x5 and happend to look out the side mirror and notice some white smoke with the black smoke. But when I turned the juice back down to 3x4 there was nothing but black smoke coming out. When I got back to the house I checked the boots and noticed that the boot from the turbo to the intercooler looked as if it had been blown loose so I tighten it back up. I also checked the shaft and it had minimum to no play in it, I mean it would move just alittle but not enough that I would think it would harm anything. I also checked around the blade to see if it was rubbing but it was all good there. But anyway Im rambling on so forgive me, but my question is is it normal for the white smoke to come out and could the loose boot have been what caused to white smoke to appear?

Thanks for any help and advice

an hx35 with a 40 wheel and 14cm housing puts you real close to the cost of an s300 which will support more HP.

when I replaced my hx35/40 with a small s300 I was impressed how much more power I had at a lower PSI.

35/40 seemed to be out of its efficiency at 350hp, it could go higher, but didn't like it.

I have an '01 with an HX 35. The wastegate is blocked off, Edge comp box, and 200 horse sticks and I see about 45psi and have had no issues with a bone stock head.

very brave of you.... it can be done but for how long? You also have a HO motor which has higher compression 17:1 instead of 16.3:1 like the SO. that means that you are at a higher risk of blowing a head gasket than a guy with an SO given the same turbo.

If you had a bigger turbo you would definitely pick up HP.

Ok for some reason Im still unable to hit the 32-35psi with the stock turbo. I was wondering if it could be leaking boost at the intake manifold (gridheaters)? The reason Im asking is b/c for some reason when I installed the juice and tapped the injection pump I didnt replace the gaskets, I have them but didnt replace'em. So could this be the culprit?

Thanks for any advice

Andrew
