Default Swapping ECMs

Hey,I've got this "235hp" engine in my 01,and I had a HO engine before,I'd like to get the use of my cruise back, and I'm thinking I could just swap the ECMs,anyone ever try this?
It's not really very hard to do,but I'm wondering if it will work,or if there are more/less pins in the newer ECM....

The 2000 engine used a Vacuum operated cruise, and the 01 is electronic.

Well,I played Guinna Pig...a 245hp HO ECM does not work well on a 235hp engine.
I started it and it ran rough for about 15 seconds, then the CEL light came on and it smoothed out,and the tach sunk, guessing that the Cam position sensor or Crank position sensor does not speak the same lingo.
Put the old one back on,runs great,no cruise control still

I remember reading I think on (cough) dtr, that all you need to do is have it reflashed from a dealer with the right settings for the so engine. The engines are the same just the vp is diffrent!
I may be incorrect, its been a while! Might want to check into it too! Ill ask my dealer buddy if I get a chance
tomarrow when I get my parts.

Might have run a little better if you had all the HO fuel system on it when you swapped out to a HO ECM.

Bingo, I don't remember which way it goes but I'm pretty sure 2000 was the breaking point. One uses a cam and crank sensor, the other only uses one of them. I've slept to many times and drank to many beers since I was up on the 2nd gen, but pretty sure that's the problem. I'm not sure you can just reflash the ecm to the newer specs to pick up the electric cruise control, there are other sensors that used different values as well, ie map sensor. Should be able to swap out a few sensors and reflash to an 01 235 horse program and be good to go.

You're definitely not having this problem because of the 235 vs 245 programmming, it is in the year difference of the ecm and the sensors on the engine.

there are a few differences in the ho motor to the so motor. the compression in the ho is 17 the so is 16.3 the injectors are different and the pumps are different. the so pump will make more power once you add the box and injectors.

I think that my SO engine has a cam and crank sensor both, maybe if I just swap them both and the wiring harness
