Exhaust/engine tick. Any suggestions? (Video attached)
Good afternoon all,
I have a 2001 5.9, with 137k miles on it. Bought it from the original owner last year, and installed a Fass, new VP, and some 75 hp injectors.
shortly after installing the new VP and injectors, I started noticing this “tick” noise at idle. Sounds like an exhaust leak/air leak more than a metallic tick, but I cannot find it to save my life. It’s louder at idle in park, and then when I shift to drive it’s still there, but not as loud.
ive done a lash adjustment, sprayed the exhaust system with soapy water, with no findings other than a pinhole towards the rear of the exhaust (not where the sound is). I’ve also taken all the new injectors out, checked them, put new o rings on everything, and then reinstalled, and it’s still making the same noise.
im at a loss. Truck drive like normal, it’s just one of those things that will drive me nuts if I don’t figure it out. Let me know what y’all think from the video. You can hear it more on the passenger side.
