Default HELP WITH MY LIFT PUMP!!! PLEASE

I have a 2002 dodge ram 2500 turbo diesel (of course) 118,5xx miles.
So everything on my truck was running what I thought was fine. But I was due for an oil change. So I drained the truck, and I was going to change the oil filter while I was at it. I drained the oil last night, and was going to change the filter, but I couldn't get the filter off. So I left it at that for the night. Mind you it has no oil in it, all night till today. I got the filter off, put on a new one. Filled the truck with new oil. Then I started the truck. It shot a small cloud of grey smoke out the exhaust, not a big deal. But then out of the drain hose for the lift pump comes fuel pouring out. It only comes out when the truck is started and running. My question is what is going on? I don't know why all of the sudden fuel is coming out of the drain hose on the stock lift pump when I turn the truck on. This is my only ride, please HELP!

if you mean the filter that pulls water out of the fuel on the lift pump (the one with the drain on the bottom) thats to drain the water it has stored that it has pulled out of the fuel.... somehow it got opened... you need to tighten it and close it...if that is what you are talking about.

yes the fuel filter, the drain valve at the bottom of the lift pump bolted to the side of the engine. It flows fuel when the truck is on and the valve is open.....is that normal?

Basically you're opening a valve on your fuel line in an area that traps water. Soon as you put pressure to it... hello shower.

Basically you need to close the valve and try and figure out what opened it.
