Default What Does Valve Lash Sound Like?

My truck has a strange idle which is way more evident when the tank is low on fuel. I just filled it this morning so it will be a while before I drop it and look at the pick-up tube. Then there is the VP44 - does anyone know if the return line on the older trucks is as porblematic as the newer ones?

Last night after work I started it up and popped the hood and sat there for a bit with my head right up near the fuel filter canister it sounded to me as though there was a sucking sound which could have been a slapping sound or something similar?

The truck has 160,000 km on it.

It will get completely re-wired when the weather improves but that is because of the electrical gremlins...

It sounds like a loud ticking or tapping depending on how bad it is and will increase or decrease with RPM's.

Doesn't sound like a tapping sound and isn't noticable while driving.

loose rockers will be more evident when the motor is cold..............they tighten up with heat

VP-44 return line issues.............none

when I installed my Fass I used my OEM supply line as the return...since it is bigger
