Dead injection pump VP44

Dead injection pump VP44
This truck was running good until it hit a deer. The next day it quit. A diagnostic test and it gave a death code on the injection pump. The truck has 136,000 miles on it. It hard for me to believe the injection pump went out on it. It will crank with ether. I cracked a line at the pump and it seems to be getting fuel. This is a 1999 Ram 2500 5.9 cummins. Any ideas? Is there a reset? There is not a pump in the tank, it's on the side of the engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try to clear the code and crack the injector lines at the head, I usually do 1, 3, and 4 and crank for about 20 seconds. Tighten back up when you see fuel coming out and then crank for another 20 seconds. But it is not uncommon for that mileage to have a bad injection pump, I've seen far less miles and the pump go out.

The real weak link is the factory Lift pumps. They do not supply the VP with enough fuel pressure to keep the electronics cool on the VP pump. When they get weak, they cause the VP to over heat, and burn out ... Upgrade to an raptor or airdog lift pump, install Fuel pressure gauges you will be set. For the O P give JKidd a call betcha he'll get you straightened out.
