Auto to manual swap, motor swap, etc
I found this truck for a heck of a deal with a blown motor and decided to put my drivetrain in it. It also had no tailgate, rear bumper and a bent up door. I took some pics with my phone so I figured I would share. It's a 4x4 and I had a 2wd so I just kept it 2wd for now. I'm going to rebuild my NV4500 with the 4x4 tail housing and get a different input shaft for the NP241 later on. Then I will have driveshaft issues.
If anyone is thinking about the auto to manual swap; its not that big of a project. I did this outside with basic hand tools in a week. You ground the middle wire in the three wire harness from the transmission. The other two are your reverse lights. I kept the computers from the truck I bought and haven't had any problems. The pedals are just a c-clip and slide the shaft out then back in with the new pedals. It helps a great deal if you remove the dash.
On a random note; I had a greasable u-joint and one of the 4 caps was not getting any grease so I had to replace it. I'm lucky it fell off or I never would have known.
