Aftermarket Exhaust with an Exhaust Brake
Hey Everybody,
I purchased a 2001 Dodge ram 2500 with 24 valve Cummins last summer. When I purchased the truck it already had a Jacobs exhaust break. Anyways I am looking at purchasing a 5" MBRP exhaust system and was cururious if any adapters need to be purchased to make this work? Does any fabrication need to take place? Any information that you can provide would be a great help.
Thanks,

You should be fine. The Jacobs exhaust brake should be where the factory exhaust elbow was which means any exhaust system you put on should still have the factory style downpipe flange. However, to make sure always contact the manufacture and run it by them before making a purchase.

Still with...
* Stock HX35 turbo
* stock 3" Exhaust
* Exhaust brake (Jacobs)
... and zero problem with heavy towing will all the mods on my truck.
* Edge Comp (5x5)
* RV275's injectors
The only reason to worry about upgrading 4" exhaust is because you big into racing on the quarter mile track or dyno queen. I still never seen a drop in MPG's from the 3" exhaust.
