Default 2002 cummins dead pedal...HELP

Hey all, I'm brand new to this forum. I have an 02 cummins auto with dead pedal. I just bought the truck last year from a " mechanic" in Southern California. On the drive home I got the dead pedal at about 1600 rpms. Called the guy up next day and he told me to get bent. So I check the codes and got p0216. Installed a new lift pump and crossed my fingers.

The problem doesn't really bother me that bad... Now it's regristration time also smog time.
So here are the symptoms. Dead pedal when cold. If I start it up and drive right away it run fine for a couple of minutes then the dead pedal will kick in until oil pressure drops and or temp rises 140-160 degrees. Also gets it at a constant 1600 rpms 60 mph. Sometimes a slight bucking or missing while excelorting that rarely happens. When it gets the dead pedal I am able to get the rpms up just no power. There also seems to be a slight miss when idling only when cold. I'm getting 19psi and plenty of volume of fuel at the ip.
I cleared the codes and it doesn't return until I have a symptom. So I let the truck warm up and avoid cruising no light or code. Cleaned all electrical connections and that seemed to help. Any advice would be huge. Thanks!

VP44 Diagnostic

Last time I had dead pedal all I needed was an apps adjustment but it wasn't throwing codes either sounds more serious.

Perfect thanks for the link. Just realized I can search the forums for a thread on the symptoms. A lot of same symptoms and a lot of different answers. Sounding like the computer on top of the pump. Hope not

What codes are you getting? P0121 P0122 are TPS codes and you can be done for like $160

if you have a VP44 code some can be fixed. Give us a shout. 951-377-4844

It's getting the p0216 but only after the symptoms. If I let the truck warm up and stay away from cruising at 1600 rpms (I will get the check engine light after a mile or so) no symptoms and no codes. Wouldn't it throw the code in all conditions?
